At over 25 feet high this sculptural video installation addresses the unusual gallery space it occupies by referencing both the office above it and the exhibition floor upon which it rests. A detailed diorama scale rubble environment at the base of the steel tower is populated with soldiers, cowboys and other surprisingly incongruous characters. The top of the tower is crowned with a television offering a privileged, yet mediated, view of the scenes below to visitors of the office. The dialogue between the space, the media and the access to different versions of this constructed reality speak about the structures of society and the media's important role in them. This work was made in collaboration with the artist Luis Maldanado.
